The Latin name Benedictus (Benedict in English) has the same meaning as Barak. Thus the present Pope and the leader of the world's greatest nation have the same name! There must be a numerological connection somewhere.

This is not used at all in the Arabic world. The word "blessing" in Arabic is "Barakah" and it is feminine. However, the name "Barakat" is used in Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. "Barakat" means "blessings". Though it sounds feminine but it is given for males only.
