Now, there is a beauty. Azzurra... the throbbing, boundless expanse of a cloudless blue sky radiates with the clarity of a perfect day. Born under the rolling canopy of heaven, Azzurra herself is an unfettered horizon. She invites us to soar to new heights, bright as the midday sun above.
Can't un-see the word "Azz" and if I can see that then bullies will definitely too.
I kinda like this name, I'm Italian and using a name that means a colour in an explicit way fascinates me (like Bianca, Viola or Rosso). I don't think I'd use it for a baby, but I would totally use it for a character (maybe the male version "Azzurro" too, even if is not a common name at all). Also, I want to underline that Italian doesn't work like English: if you change the spelling you necessarily change the pronunciation. So if you spell it "Azura", as a lot here are suggesting, you both change the meaning and the pronunciation. If you want to do it, do it (I totally understand that doubled consonants are strange for foreigners to see and pronounce), but remember that it doesn't mean "light/sky blue" in Italian and we wouldn't pronounce it the same (reading it we would probably stop, not knowing on which vowel to put the stress. If it is on the U, it would sound wrong, because it's like "Azzurra" but without doubled consonants; on the first A it would actually have a very cute sound, in my opinion).
My beautiful daughter was born just as the pandemic started in 2020. I remember holding her in my arms and and looking out of the window at the clear blue sky and and it was so perfect, despite all the panic and fear that was going on in the world.
I wanted to name my daughter something that would remind me of that beautiful day.
Azzurra, my lucky 2020 baby girl ❤️.
Good name. I love Italian names.
I don't understand the people who criticize the spelling! Azzurra is not an invented spelling, it's the Italian spelling of this name.
I love this name, very unique and looks beautiful written down with the double z and double r. I was pondering over names for some time when I had my daughter 10 years ago, but as soon as I saw this I fell in love with it.
Variant of Azura.
The pronunciation listed is wrong. There is not a "J sound" in Azzurra. The pronunciation is adz-DZOOR-ra.The 'dz' is a kind of 'z' not a kind of 'j'. [noted -ed]
I like this name very much as it is a quiet, serene colour but a particular sound. I think there's nothing wrong with the spelling as the colour/adjectives are exact (azzurro, Azzurra, azzurri, azzurre, azzurrino, azzurrognolo...).
In 2017 were born 926 Azzurra in Italy, the highest peak since national recordings.
This name seems... over-spelled, for lack of better words. I think this name is best spelled Azura. Azzurra just seems too over-the-top. I'm not really fond of Azure, Azura, and Azzurra in general anyway.
The pronunciation is ahd-DZOOR-rah. [noted -ed]
Lovely, exotic and unique name.
I don't really mind this name, it's alright, but it's a bit futuristic, I think. :)
Really interesting and beautiful name. I prefer it spelled Azura instead of Azzurra though, not like it really matters.
I think this is a really pretty name and its meaning is beautiful.
