“Eye” Lin really? I would absolutely hate being stuck with this name for life. Awful!

Hey Anon from 2020, the name comes from a Turkic name element that means "moon". The name is mostly used by people who live in Turkish influenced countries and regions. Just because your English speaker ears hear the word "eye" doesn't mean that most of the people who have or give their kids this name, or even most people, hear the word "eye". Not everyone speaks English. Aside from that, isn't Eileen a name in English? It's pronounced about the same as this name (a bit different at the end), and English speakers use it, so clearly the fact that it sounds like the word "eye" is in it isn't a problem. Your issue with this name is invalid.
Aylín is also a Mapuche name, a variant of Ailín, which means "clear" or "transparent" in Mapuche. This would explain Aylín's popularity in Chile.

The Turkish alphabet is a little bit different than the alphabet that is usually used in Western Europe, and as a result, this name can be spelled either with a dot on the 'i', or without a dot.
