Meaning & History
The first element of this name is derived from either the Greek adjective ἄξιος (axios) meaning "worthy, deserving" or from the Greek noun ἀξία (axia) meaning "worth, value". Both are closely related to the Greek verb ἀξιόω (axioo) meaning "to think or deem worthy". Also see Axion. The second element of this name is derived from Greek θεος (theos) meaning "god".
