I have never met anybody named Audrey who is remotely formal, myself included....Then again, I only know like 2 or 3 people named Audrey, so... yeah.
The name is a beautiful and original name and reminds me of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s star, Audrey Hepburn and the names flow so well together. Lastly, the names Audrey and Sebastian just sound like they are perfect together.
My 7 year old daughter I named Audrey Eve. She is in first grade and no one has the same name as her and I love it. There are 3 Emma’s in her class. My name is Ashley and I always had to go by Ashley D. Because there were always 1-2 Ashley’s in the same class as me. I was born in ‘81☺️
Obviously, I love this name. We also call her Auddie!
The combo "Audrey Claire" works well and sounds nice. Beware of people calling you Aubrey though!
What a pretty name! So elegant and feminine, yet playful and cute. However, people might get you mixed up with the name Aubrey so consider that.
I love French girls names, and Audrey is one of my favourites. It has a lovely old Hollywood vibe, and sounds cute on a little girl, cool on a teenager, and professional on a woman. What’s not to like?
Sweet and lovely.
I’m not a huge fan of this name, but it’s better than the childish Aubrey.
I have this name myself, and lately, I've been reading through here. I noticed that there is more than one nickname for Audrey: Audie, Addie, Audi, etc. I only recently started to appreciate this name for what it is. :)
Audrey is such a nice name with historical flair! I love the combo Audrey Vivian Kate!
This name always sounds like 'laundry' to me.
In my opinion, Audrey is a very sophisticatedly beautiful name graced with elegance and strength. I, personally, love the association with the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn. My sister looks like and reminds me a lot of her.
Overall, I think Audrey is a wonderful name with a lovely classy charm.
My name is Audrey, so I really enjoy this. It's elegant, classy, and, frankly, better than Aubrey or Aubree.
I love the name Audrey. It may be my name but it also usually fits the person very well.
I feel like this name is better than Aubrey in my opinion. Audrey has that nice strong cute vintage sound, unlike Aubrey. Aubrey sounds a little bit tomboyish and has the weird sound to it.
This name is so amazing! I love it so much.
One of my most favorite names. It has style and class all while being exceptionally trendy. It's also not too frilly or cutesy as well and it packs a punch. My favorite combo is Audrey Vivian. It's classy, modern, feminine, and spicy. I like it.
Now that I think about it, I actually like this name. The meaning is pretty cool, it’s elegant, historical yet modern, and just great overall. It’s not common, but I can see why. Audrey Hepburn is a good association. Better than Aubrey.
Quite nice!
I love this name, I have multiple friends with the name Audrey and they all love their name. I find this name to be adorable.
Not long ago I used to prefer Aubrey more but now somehow I love Audrey. Audrey just looks very cute.
I think this name is so cute it works on all ages. My favorite middle name is Audrey Ophelia.
My name is "Audry" without the E, I love my name and have been so happy with it all my life. I was named after Hank Williams' wife Audrey Williams.
Cute, and better than Audree/Aubrey/Aubree.
This name has such a quiet strength to it - it's lovely but not frilly, sweet but not saccharine. Absolutely one of my favorites. I'd love to have twin girls named Audrey and Amy.
I really love Audrey, maybe because of the actress Audrey Hepburn. However, I am not sure if the name is too common or not, I have read comments of various opinions. I hope it is not, really. But yeah, it's a lovely name and it ages beautifully.
Prefer this to Aubrey.
It's really cute.
It's a lovely name, but I personally would pick a less used name. I'm sorry, but I'm a stickler for obscure names.
Beautiful.
I love Audrey, it's a very cute name which I can picture on a variety of girls. I really don't like Aubrey, it's bland.
Quite pretty.
I love this name it’s really pretty and I might name my daughter this in the future. My sister says she prefers Aubrey over Audrey but I disagree. I think it’s a great name with a nice meaning, “noble strength.”.
I think Audrey is a pretty name and I prefer it over Aubrey.
Hello. My name is Audrey. I was shamed by my peers and they said I couldn’t play in any Reindeer games. Oh wait, my mistake that was in a movie. But now that I have your attention I would like to say that Audrey is a beautiful name and if you want your kid to succeed in life, name them Audrey. It tickles the ears of magical fairies.
My best friend is named Audrey and she is the best. She is sooooooooooooooooooooo nice and has my back always.
Audrey is my middle name, my full name is Alia Audrey! I named my daughter Ethelind Olga, which has the same roots as Audrey. When I was younger, I despised my middle name, but now I’ve grown to love it. I was very close to giving my first daughter the name Audrey as a middle name. It’s not a very common name in England, at least in my experience, but Aubrey certainly is. I don’t hate Aubrey, I just think that Audrey is prettier and stronger than Aubrey.
Luckily now there’s a modern way to say Audrey instead of the Old English Æðelþryð.
A classic, I love the association with Audrey Hepburn, my mother's favourite actress.
Has easily become one of my favorite names for a girl, and it's got to be one of my top for way in the future when I have a child, lol. Honestly I was really drawn to the "Audrey Horne" character from Twin Peaks, and I never really thought much about the name before then. To me it has a classic (yet not ancient) and very pretty feel to it. It's short and sweet but has a decent number of letters. "Noble strength" is an awesome meaning to boot and I like "Aud" as a nickname [:
This is my first name and for 40 plus years, I have tried to like it but realized recently that I never will like it so I decided to go by my middle name which is Dana. I was born in 1969 and, at that time, there were no other Audreys my age and I felt so awkward with that name as all the girls in my class were Jennifer, Susie, Lisa, etc. I felt like I had an old lady name and I guess I’ve never gotten over that. I realize it’s become more popular, which surprises me but at least the little girls being named Audrey these days won’t be the only ones.
This is a perfect example of a strong yet classy woman's name. I like that the initial sound is uncommon. I don't like this name enough to use it as a first name, though.
For awhile I didn't think much about this name but I recently binged "Twin Peaks" the show and I adore the character Audrey Horne, so I now have a nice association with the name. To me it sounds formal but cute and I've always been into more unique names that I don't hear too often. Apparently a lot of older women bear this name but I don't get a granny vibe from it, to me it seems timeless and works for girls of all ages. I personally think the nickname "Aud" or "Odd" is pretty adorable. If I have a daughter I'd hope to strongly consider Audrey.
I like this name. It sounds beautiful and royal.
Yay! This is my name! When I was younger, I always used to wish that my name was... Ingrid, funnily enough. But now, I've grown to accept my name. It's an awesome name to have.
I like the name Audrey. Even though it is now sometimes overused, I think it is pretty. I have a friend that's named Audrey, she is really thoughtful and smart. I also like the alternative name Aubrey because it is less used.
I have the name Audrey, but I just don't know what to think of it. I mean, I've tried but it's much easier to evaluate someone else's name than your own if you've ever tried. I get compliments on my name and people always think that I'm named after Audrey Hepburn :). But really I'm named after my great-great-great aunt Audrie who saved my great-great grandmother in a fire.
I used to think this was a decent name, not really good, not really bad. Then I had to play Audrey in a play of Shakespeare's As You Like It. Let's just say I don't like this name anymore. I can't imagine anybody would be happy to discover they share their name with a simpleminded goatherd who spends an entire play being the butt of jokes.
I don't find this name too old fashioned sounding. I like it.
In my opinion I think this is a beautiful name. Although it does sound old fashioned, it's way better than those awful trendy names that don't age well such as Madison, Charlotte, McKenzie, Michaela, Layla or Lucinda. I'd definitely prefer it over a lot of names today.
Not a bad name, but I prefer the more feminine and pretty sounding Audra.
Audrey is my name and although I admit I went through a phase of hating it for a while as a child, I have now come to accept and love it. Audrey to me was never an "old-lady's name". Not once did I ever associate my name to that.
I was born in 1994 and have known 3 other Audrey's (all around my age) and I liked them all. Not once have I met another "Audrey" who I despised.
Biased here, but I can't help but feel giddy whenever I hear about somebody naming their daughter this. Though, I do admit that Audrey being confused with Aubrey can be incredibly annoying and that this name is not the easiest to say for young children. Recently, I've been called "Arree" & "Aushee" by my 4 year old nephew. When he's older, I'm sure he will say my name correctly, but what he calls me now is something I will always hold onto.I love how Audrey is easy to spell, remember, is classic and not a name you hear constantly despite having exploded into popularity. Audrey certainly isn't a "generalized" name unlike others, and you don't hear it much in books, TV shows\movies or in the media and things of that nature.
My daughter's name is Audrey Elizabeth. We call her Audge for a nickname, kinda like hodge podge. We do run into people thinking her name is Aubrey now that that's so popular- I do see that being a possible problem in the future for her. The daughter on the vacation movies is Audrey also.
I used to think that this name was so plain and old fashioned, but now I've actually been starting to like it a lot more because of the lovely actress Audrey Hepburn.
I like this name a lot. It sounds simple, classy, and not too common either and it's a timeless name that fits all ages, unlike those other trendy girl names that don't age too well.
I hadn't realized the name became so popular again! It's now within the Top 50 in the U.S.Audrey is no longer an "old lady" name, in that case. It has taken the same path as Evelyn, and is again a modern, classy name.(And please, before anyone else says anything - nobody uses the word "tawdry" anymore.)
Such a stunning name! Will age beautifully. But I don't like that it starts with the word odd and if you call her Aud for short, that sounds funny to me! Audie and Rey are cute nickname options.
I love this name and can't help but think of my favorite actress Audrey Hepburn whenever I hear it!
My best friend's name is Audrey and everybody loves it because it seems so classy and vintage.
Audrey is my name, though I've never been particularly fond of it. The meaning isn't all too great, and it doesn't sound particularly amazing either. I go by it, though, and other people seem to like my name. If you like the name, then, by all means, use it. I can see how it's a nice name to some, especially compared to a lot of popular names out there.
Beautiful and classical name for a girl. Like Audrey Hepburn. Better alternative to the so-called unisex Aubrey.
I really like this name and I would consider it for a daughter, if I had one. I too, am pleasantly surprised to see that it's had a revival lately. :)
I knew a really adorable little girl named Audrey, and she made me like the name a lot more than I used to. I think a lot of people would prefer to see more girls these days named Audrey rather than Aubrey, which is just another "boy name turned trendy girl name".
Wow, didn't know this name was still so popular! I'm pleasantly surprised :)
Still very classy, but still modern.
Personally, it'soverused, but I love it!
Audry
Audrie
Aso.
I can never take this name seriously, because of the Fawlty Towers thing, 'yes I know!'
Very classy, sophisticated girls name. I associate it with Audrey Hepburn.
Love it. First, Audrey Hepburn is so classic. After all these years, her style is still in style. She was simply wonderful. Second, I had a good friend named Audrey when I was in middle school. She was sweet, sincere, and smart... Always good traits! Other than my friend, I have never actually met another Audrey, but the name is becoming more common. I hope it doesn't get too common.
Whenever anyone asks my 17 year old her name, the first thing they say is "After Audrey Hepburn" which to be honest it is.
Wonderful, glad it's becoming popular again.
It's rather beautiful - reminds me of golden honey.
Most likely the name of my future child. Every Audrey I've known has been a smart and successful woman who could stand on her own merits. A trait I want in my daughter. This name also conjures an image of someone strong and unique.
I love this name! It's not too common and it's pretty. Plus, it reminds me of the lovely actress Audrey Hepburn. :D
I love the name Audrey. I've actually known two girls with the name (one spelled it Audrey, one spelled it Audree), and they both are in their first or second year of college now. So to me it doesn't seem like an old lady's name at all. In fact, I was a little shocked when I saw this name in a nursing home the other day.
Wow, this name is really increasing in popularity. It's moved up about 100 spots in the past ten years to reach #44 in 2008. I know a girl named Audrey, about 4 years old. Her parents are stylish and wealthy, I think the name Audrey kind of fits into that image. Pretty name, hopefully it doesn't get TOO overused like Emily, Ava, Madison, etc!
I do like this name, It reminds me of one of my favorite books, Audrey, Wait. As someone said (the comment above).
This name has been growing on me and now I love it. It is one of those rare names that sound good in all stages of life.
I like this name. It's very pretty and has the positive association with the beautiful Audrey Hepburn. However, I don't like the version Audrina.
I quite like this name, although despite St. Audrey being an English saint, the name hasn't really been that popular for the past 50 years or so here in Britain, but in the last three years certainly it has become much more popular. So overall, yes, I like this name because it's not overly popular, but gaining in popularity, and is very feminine and classy. :)
I never really knew how I felt about this name but I really like it. I like the spellings Audree though its more unique. I like this name a lot. But prefer it as a middle name.
It's really sweet.
As much as I like Audrey Hepburn, to me, this name is hideously old-fashioned. I don't know any Audreys below age sixty. No decent nicknames, and come on, can you image a three-year-old kid called Audrey? It's a grandmother name.
There's a girl in my choir class that calls me Audrey. My name is Kelsey. She says that I look like an Audrey and that she always has to think before she says my name. So, I told her to just call me Audrey. :)I think this name is nice, though. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn so I automatically think of people named Audrey being actresses.
Maybe a bit dour and stuffy.
Why would the above user be so cruel? It's fine to have a poor opinion of the name but what if someone laughed cruelly at your name? Whatever.
Um, I'm sure the person would get over it. How over sensitive are you? A name can't be universally loved can it? Audrey experienced a big period of unpopularity because of it's tawdry history. Fact. I don't blame some people for still finding it unsavoury. It did help spawn the word tawdry. The "oar" sound is unpleasant to the ear too.
St Audrey = tawdry - nothing left to say other than it's SO FAR FROM CLASSY IT'S LAUGHABLE. *breathes*
My name is Audrey (I don't go by it though, I go by my middle name.) But what I find interesting is that my grandfather was named Audrey. He was really embarassed by it also, so he went by his middle name too.
This name is just pure class! I love that it's well known but not overused. I think on a little girl it would have a sweet quirkiness to it and on a woman it just sounds so elegant. I would happily name my daughter Audrey. I just pray it doesn't become too popular!
This is a gorgeous, classy, mature name, but I would never use a saint name for my daughter, assuming I'll ever have kids.
The name Audrey is one of the most beautiful girls name that I have ever heard. It's not overused and yet it is still heard of. My first daughter will most likely be named Audrey.
Much prettier than Aubrey.
This is what I plan on naming my first daughter. =) Audrey just sounds so pretty when you say it. It's classy, timeless, beautiful and very feminine.
I love this name! This is one of my favorite names ever! I think it's very pretty.
My name is Audrey Lynn. I used to hate it because it's such an uncommon name. Also because my friends used to call me laundry and no one could spell it. Now I love it for its uniqueness. I'm never mistaken for another Audrey because I'm usually the only one!
My name is Audrey. To me it does represent strength. I am a breast cancer survivor of 5 years.
Audrey is an old fashioned name that has consistently remained sophisticated. It is my name and oh how I love it! It's a name I wish parents would name their children. It's very beautiful, classic, full of youth but can be good on old people too. If I didn't have it as my name, I sure would name it my daughter.
When I was much younger, I had a babysitter named Audrey. I always thought the name was spelt Odri, until I saw it written down (I think I was in first grade). I very much like this name. Oh, and it makes me think of otters, but I like otters.
I think it's an okay name, but I prefer the less common Audra to Audrey.
I used to not like this name, because it reminded me of "Laundry". But now I think it's very nice.
I have a friend whose middle name is Audrey. Her first name is Ashley, so it does sort of add some class/uniqueness to her popular and quite overused first name!
I love the name Audrey. I named my daughter this for several reasons, and it will always be a favorite name of mine. It is a beautiful, old-fashioned name.
I like this name because of Audrey Hepburn, one of my favourite actresses. She was so elegant. When I hear this name I think of her.
I think it's a cool name.
I think this is a truly beautiful name, very old-fashioned and sophisticated. And I think Audrey Hepburn puts a beautiful meaning to this name. I am sure this will one day be my daughter's name.
I have always loved the name Audrey. I would use the name Lynne with it, Audrey Lynne. It isn't a fad name or an overused name which is nice and it seems pretty consistent in popularity over time.
It's such a beautiful name.
The grace and timeless beauty of 'Audrey Hepburn' leaves positive connotations to this name.
