I found this name from DC Comics (The TV show DC's Legends of Tomorrow). Personally I never heard of the car named Astra so there are probably a ton of people who won't know either so don't let that stop you from choosing that name. But I don't go out in public and ask them about their opinion on the name so maybe a lot of people will think about the car.
My name is Astra! And I don't really like the name because I think it's weird but I also think it's fun because we just bought a new car, but before we bought that new car we had an Opel Astra car, so it's fun.
I really think it's an amazing name, so anyone with the name Astra, DON'T LET ANYONE HATE ON YOUR NAME! I have a friend whose baby sister's name is Astra, and she is so amazing and adorable! She is loving, caring, and VERY trusting. Never let anyone put you down because of your name. It's your name, and it is special!
This is a pretty name. I really like the meaning especially. It could be used as a nickname or alternative for Astrid. Here are some pretty Astra combinations: • Astra Violet • Astra Lizzie • Beatrice Astra • Isabelle Astra • Astra Chloe(All of these would also sound nice with Astrid instead of Astra, but Astrid also sounds nice paired with -a names and since Astra is already an -a name, it doesn't so much.)
I love this name so much, but naming a child after a car...

My name is Astra and I honestly love my name and I love that I don't know one other person with it:) I always get mispronunciations but all of the compliments I get make up for all of them:)
This is my daughter's name. We wanted something feminine but strong- also well-matched to 'Freya' (her sister's name). We wanted to keep a Nordic theme as my family are Danish. Unfortunately we lost my best friend (my husband's sister) to cancer while I was pregnant. Freya believed she went to the stars, so having Astra come "from the stars" was significant to us.
I think Astra is very feminine and I like the meaning. I once played with names and I came up with Azharastra. Azhar means "bright" and Astra means "star". I think this would be a good name for a female heroine in a story.
I love this name for the long 'ah' vowels in it - they give me an impression of regality and grandeur, or (if you *want* - but I disagree with what I'm about to type) glamour.
This is my name, a not uncommon Latvian girls' name. In Latvian it is pronounced Uh-Stra (Uh- as in 'putt', and with a rolled 'r'). In English my name is pronounce Au-stra (Au- as in Australia).
