Meaning & History
Latinized form of the ancient Greek given name Ἀρραβαῖος (Arrhabaios), which is also found spelled as Arrhibaios. The meaning of the name is uncertain. The first element of the name may possibly consist of the Greek prefix ar meaning "not, without" (similar to the word arrhythmia), whereas the second element might possibly be related to the Greek verb ῥαβάσσω (rhabasso) "to make a noise". This was the name of a king of Lynkestis who lived in the 5th century BC.
