Just discovered this name after reading Arkady and Boris Strugatsky's novel Roadside Picnic. It's a lovely name. If I ever have a son, I'd seriously consider using it. Side note: Reminds me of the word "manicotti." Or "biscotti." Or something.

I'm not sure if a "famous bearer" has to be a real person, but perhaps Arkady Renko of Gorky Park fame (by Martin Cruz Smith) can be part of this category. I'd just finished Stalin's Ghost, another novel featuring Renko, and it completely endeared the man to me. Wonderful character, wonderful name.
A famous bearer is Arkady Raikin, Russian humourist. Another bearer is Arkady Strugatsky, famous SciFi writer, who wrote together with his brother, Boris Strugatsky.
