Aristaeus was the patron god of a very wide variety of rural and rustic crafts, skills, practices, and traditions. His portfolio includes beekeeping, net-making, healing and herblore, dairying, cheese-making, henkeeping, the protection of orchards, basket weaving, food preservation, brewing, and pastoralism, among many others. Really a catch-all deity of every aspect of rural work.
