Hellenized form of the Old Persian name *Arya-bṛz-ana- which possibly meant "making the Aryans great", of which the first element is derived from Old Persian aryā "Aryans". The second element is not really certain, perhaps *brzi- "high". This name was, among others, the name of three kings of Cappadocia.
