This was the name of a short-lived band in the mid-80s! The band featured 3 members of Duran Duran, and the song that Arcadia is best known for is "Election Day".
I think of Arcadia Bay whenever I see this name. Regardless, I actually like it, it’s pretty and it has some personality to it. I like the ancient place. Makes it even more interesting. Arcadia is a name I would consider as a middle name.
I can't take this name seriously without thinking of the city of Arcadia in California, USA (as I grew up in that area).

I think this is a beautiful name. As someone pointed out earlier, it derives from Arcadia, a rural paradise in southern Greece. There is a Latin proverb, Et in Arcadia ego, which means, I (Death) can be found even in Arcadia. Despite that rather morbid sentiment, I associate the name with a tranquil, beautiful, warm countryside... [noted -ed]
Arcadia were a pop group formed in 1985 by Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor of Duran Duran, as a side project during a break in that band's schedule.
Such a pretty name that you can give to your daughter.

A famous bearer of this name was a 19th-Century mistress of King Leopold I of the Belgians, Arcadia Meyer (nee Claret). They had two sons together, George and Arthur, and was created Baronin von Eppinghoven. :)
There is a city in Florida by the name of Arcadia. It's mostly where surrounding Floridians go antique shopping, since Arcadia is mainly an antique town. I never knew that this was an actual name used on people, but I had always thought it was pretty. A nickname for Arcadia could be Cadi, like Katie but spelled differently.
