Anneke Feinya Agustin is an Indonesian former badminton player specializing in doubles. She had shown her achievements in badminton together with Nitya Krishinda Maheswari. I have liked the name Anneke ever since I heard it used in a production of The Diary of Anne Frank. I like it so much that I have given it to one of the supporting characters in the novel I'm writing.
I have a friend with the name Anneke and she has it pronounced an-EH-KA, as in Anika. She's from South Africa, and for her family the name is Afrikaans. SO MANY TIMES has her name been mispronounced. An-EE-KEE, An-EEK-A, any more you can think of that's not An-EH-KA, it's been said to her. Another one: An-eh-KEE.

I know a girl named Anneke who pronounces it ANN-nee-kah, like the name Anika. I prefer both the pronunciation and spelling of Anika. Anneke looks too much like 'neck' to me (which in turn reminds me of a giraffe).
