I was given this name by my dad, I LOVE, LOVE, IT! Aniya, for me, is pronounced UH-NI-YUH.
What a pretty name!
Uh-NIY-uh
Ay-NIY-Uh.
Since I have the name "Aniya" I'll say no one can pronounce it. It is pronounced Ay-Niy-Uh or Uh-niy-uh and is extremely unpopular and rare. I'll say no one deserves to get bullied because they have this name so consider that before you name your baby girl this...
Hey, it's me again. I made my original comment when I was an annoying middle schooler, full hate. I have since grown to like my name, and accept my heritage as well. When I was making the comment I was 11, 12 maybe and hated my heritage, like, a lot a lot. I was being bullied for "huge A- lips" and people always got my name wrong and it made me insecure. I ain't like that no more. I still think it sounds a little childish, but my opinion ain't as negative :D.
Uh-NIE-uh.
SOOOOO PRETTTYYYYYYYYYY I'm jealous I want that name.
I LOVE this name. It is soooooo pretty. My future baby is going to be named Aniya Lynn.
I've met about 5 Aniya's in my lifetime (all of them spelled differently of course).
I think this is a beautiful name, and I like that it fits with "modern" times, in a way. However, it bothers me that Aniya doesn't have an "established" meaning.
This is my friend's name. She says it's Native American for "flowing river".
