Meaning & History
Taken from the title of the Virgin Mary Nuestra Señora de Angosto "Our Lady of Angosto". Angosto is a former place name meaning "narrow" in Spanish, possibly referring to the width of a river. According to folk legend, in 1089, a local shepherd rescued a carving of the Virgin from the Tumecillo River (located in the Spanish province of Álava).
