The name Alya (Аля) comes from the word "álaya" ("алая", in English - "scarlet"). "Scarlet" is not only a color, but also a synonym for "beautiful" in Slavic languages. That's why Alya has two meanings - scarlet and beautiful.

This is also sometimes used as a nickname for Natalya.
I felt I should mention it because Galina doesn't begin with "al".

The description should be changed to say named containing ал instead of starting with ал, since other names that don't start with it but have it in them use it as a diminutive. The one I mentioned was Galina, and another commenter mentioned Natalya. It's used as a diminutive of both of those as well as (like I said before) other names containing ал.
