Honestly, I don’t think the bot ruined this name at all. It kinda improved it I think. Yes it might lead to some teasing but also funny jokes about it. Great name as a formal name just as much as it is as a nickname.
I'm so mad Amazon ruined this name. You can see it tanking in the popularity rankings correlating with the release of Amazon Alexa. If it wasn't for that, it would be a really solid, good name. I had a friend named Alexa growing up and I think it's still a really cute name for a kid, but one that isn't so youthful that it ages poorly. It's a bit more fun and less common than Alexandra/Alexandria, and I like it more as a diminutive of those names than Lex/Lexi/Lexie/Lexa. Too bad there's an inescapable brand association now. Maybe in a few decades it'll be a possibility again. At least there's still Alex/Alexis/Alexia?
My name is Alexa…I wasn’t too fond of it as a kid. I went by Alexa up until I was 15, then made everyone around me call me ‘Lex’. I’ll always introduce myself as Alexa to someone for some reason….probably a test to see if someone laughs at it! I actually don’t mind the connection to Amazon. I work at Amazon, so…I’ve heard all the jokes. I think it’s harmless, and find it quite funny at times! I’ll give someone one free pass to get it out of their system. As far as the sound of the name goes? I’ve grown to like it. I love the sound of the ‘X’…Any name with an ‘X’ sounds sexy to me! Except Alexis…sorry. That ‘S’ after the ‘X’ just does something weird to the sound.
The name is beautiful and still usable. I would much rather be named Alexa, which is nice and elegant but not extremely common, than many other names.Amazon Alexa exists but I personally don't even know many people who have one and even if they have one they usually renamed it (you can program it to listen to any name). It wouldn't bother me.

I expected all the Amazon talk. It's actually not a bad name, despite it being the name of something that is not living and very small. It is a name that will not be shadowed by modern technology. Right?
I like to think I'm much more open-minded and reasonable. Amazon Al has zero influence on me and on this or any name for that matter. Still feel about Alexa as I always have since having come across / heard it. Truly beautiful. So very elegant and sophisticated. Besides, as someone mentioned "you can actually easily change the name it reacts to so that shouldn't be a problem at all." On a female, I don't care for Lex or Alex (which are quite masculine), but the latter only if spelled Alix / Alyx. Alexandra and the various other versions derived from it are nice too but personally, Alexa / Aleksa is my most preferred, and so nice to still see it among the charts.
I love it. I don't care about Amazon Alexa (the google thing is much better anyway and will succeed in the long term). It is a lovely name and totally usable.

My name is Alexa, it's short for Alexandra. I have always liked my name, but there is the matter of the Amazon Alexa. For years when I introduce myself I have been constantly asked "What's the weather today?" and other similar things. I wouldn't recommend naming your kid this, it will just result in constant comments.
Personally, I think it's dumb that they used this name for the Amazon AI. However, I also think that it would be cool to have the same name as an Amazon AI. Alexa is a beautiful name, absolutely wonderful and stunning. Fun to say, looks beautiful on paper, just wow. I can see why Amazon chose the name Alexa for their AI, it's beautiful. I don't know why people would turn away from a name because of a stupid computer? Like, it's still a beautiful name!
I would LOVE it if not for the robot that ruined it. Then each time you say: "Alexa, dear,", the robot activates, which would be SOOOO annoying. But you could solve the problem by using the nickname Lexi or Ali.
My name is Alexa and I think it is beautiful and has a beautiful meaning. I also know I've had to use a nickname for awhile because of the AI- not cool when people are always asking you for the weather and time.
This is an absolutely gorgeous name and it's a shame that a corporation ruined it for everyone. It's honestly pretty unethical. I've heard of Alexas being teased a lot, and even having to have their names whispered so it doesn't accidentally activate the AI in homes or businesses.
I love this name! My cousin is named Alexa and she is awesome. She and her brother, Lance, are my only teenage cousins who play with me when they are not busy. I love them so much. Also, avoid the Alexa thing from Amazon jokes. Don’t be mean to anybody with a name like this, or Siri or Cortana.
I like the way this name looks and sounds. I find this name so much better than Alexis simply because I hate the name Alexis. This name is more feminine and softer than the verbose Alexis. If you want something with a little more flair than Alexa there is also the just as beautiful name Alexia.
Hey so I have been reading some comments on how this is “tacky” “trashy” etc, etc and I just wanted to point out a few things. (Before you go bash me I just wanted to say DO YOU KNOW A NAME DOESN'T IDENTIFY A PERSON?! Most of these comments make me ashamed to be apart of the human race. It's okay to say I think this name is bad, tacky or trashy, but for this name it’s not the case. I mean look at it... well it’s not THAT bad I’ve seen worse. We all know the new Amazon al or whatever it’s called, called “Alexa” listen: not everybody owns an Alexa or wants to buy one. This was a name before the Amazon thing even came out. (Well... if you want to name your child Alexa go ahead if you want to name your child DaQuan go ahead we’re not gonna stop you. Comments are for the freedom of speech not to say the parents are “Uneducated” or “trash”.
I was rooting for this name as I like it better than Alexis, but the device named Alexa (And people have to call out its name to get it to work which will be confusing to human Alexas within earshot and maybe even confusing to the device when the human Alexa is called for.) killed that name! Thanks Silicon Valley!
My name is Alexandra. In my school there is another girl called Alexandra and she uses the name Alex. Last year we had a guy in our grade with the name Alexander. He also used Alex. I also have a cousin with the name Alexander and he uses Alex too! Along with his dad. I never felt like Alex was my nickname. Now that I’m entering high school I want my own nickname and I think the name Alexa is right for me.
This is my name and I adore it! I do not think that it sounds stripper-esque, trashy, or unintelligent. I believe that the name Alexa is very classy yet short and sweet - a name that I would definitely consider naming a future daughter if it was not my own already. I am still young - fifteen years old - so my opinion may change in the future... Yet as of now I think that my name is one of the prettiest, with such a strong meaning behind it.
Alexa is a good name because it's nice on kids and adults. Might be a bit upsetting if it got confused with Alexis a lot but it has nice nicknames that go with it like Lexie, I personally don't like the nickname Lex. I just don't and Alex sounds too much like a boys name, so other than those two nicknames, Alexa is a nice name. Also like Eileen said above I do prefer Aleksa.
I like this name as a full name. I also like Alexandra and Alexia.

It's cute as a nickname for Alexandra, but as a full name it sounds very immature and little girl-ish. I encourage Alexa strictly as a nickname; or you could just go with something similar, like Alicia or Alyssa, for a full name.
I hate this name so much, especially when you call her Lexi because the name Alexa is already a stripper sounding name, so just adding Lexi makes it worse.
This name is simply beautiful. Every positive adjective can be used to describe it. If you are considering this name for your little girl, some combos I have that you more than welcome to take a look at are:Alexa Claire Alexa Paige Alexa Caroline Alexa Charlotte Alexa Josephine Alexa Morgan.

I personally love the name Alexa and I want to change my name to it when I'm older. I don't know much about it, but I would just like to say to anyone who dislikes the name that I think it is very beautiful and unique.
I think it's a sweet name for little girls, it's my name, but I always shorten it to Alex because I'm a tomboy, and it's annoying reminding teachers. If you name a child Alexandra, they can shorten it to Alexa if they wish, but stick with Alex. My full names Alexa Mia, and people think it's sweet, but as I said, it doesn't suit me.
If you were to name your daughter Alexa or Alexis and she doesn't like it, there are so many different nicknames she can use instead. This is something important to look at when deciding on a name. Personally I prefer Alexa at the moment.
I think Alexa is a great nickname for the name Alexandria/Alexandra. I only like the nickname Alex for the boys name Alexander. So I like Alexa for girls and Alex for boys.
To me it brings to mind a tough, tarty, brainless blonde girl - popular, but stupid and senseless. If your name is Alexandra, choose Ally or Xandra or something else!
Bah, I don't like the sound of this name. It sounds lazily constructed, unimaginative, and utterly bland, and it's not even pretty. There are far too many names like this anyway.
My name is Alexa, and I personally love it. Nicknames I usually go by that are derived from it are Lex and Lexa. To me the name gives off a "nice person" tone.
My name is Alexa and I honestly can't think of a name that I'd rather have! It gets shortened to Lex or Lexie which I think is nice too. I'm not keen when people call me Alexis by mistake though!
