Meaning & History
Latinized form of Greek Αλκιβίη (Alkibie) which was derived from ἀλκή (alke) meaning "defense, defensive strength, valour" and βία (bia) "bodily strength, force, act of violence" (compare Alcibiades). In Greek mythology, this was the name of an Amazon who fought with Penthesilea at Troy.
