I actually thought this was gender neutral/unisex for a long time, until I realized the female Adrian I knew actually spelled it Adrienne haha—either way, I really love the look and feel of this spelling, and I adore the sound, it’s very smooth and soft :D(Also I think that since Adrienne and Adrian are pronounced exactly the same, it’s fine to call a girl Adrian as well—Adrian is a much simpler and more elegant spelling, in my opinion, so if someone also prefers it over Adrienne, I don’t see a reason why they can’t use it :) )
Adrian Newey is Red Bull's outgoing Chief Technical Officer. This man is responsible for designing the rocketship that is the Red Bull RB19, which won 21 out of 22 races in the 2023 Formula 1 season!
I have a male friend named "Adrian." He is greeted with "Yo Adrian" regularly by many in reference to the Rocky films. This is something any bearer of the name will be expected to tolerate.

I think Adrian is a nice name. I like it for both genders, but with this spelling, I would slightly prefer it for a boy (and Adrienne for a girl). It is handsome, modern, and edgy. It is strong but also smooth and gentle. Overall, I think Adrian is a beautiful name.
Adrian Greenburg (1903-59) was a famous Hollywood fashion designer, usually known professionally as just "Adrian". He was married to actress Janet Gaynor.

I absolutely think it's nice. I love this for a boy because it's such a cool, strong and handsome name but I hate this for a girl because it's so ridiculous in my opinion.
I love this name! It definitely reminds me of Lady Bug and Cat Noir, but I don't mind. It also reminds me of Adrian Monk. It's not very common, but not unusual at all. A cool, handsome name.
LOVE for a boy as well. We’re leaning towards the spelling Adrien only because we have e’s in our last name and it fits better with the middle name Owen.
On a personal level, I find Adrian as a truly handsome and dashing name that ages well for a man of good taste and character. Adriana sounds very proud, but delightfully sweet for a lady to have regardless of her age. :)
One of my favourite boy names. Don’t understand what exactly about it sounds so “feminine” to some other commenters, I think it sounds handsome and princely. The name Adrienne already exists, there’s no need to name your daughter Adrian. Ridiculous trend of taking boys names and labeling them too feminine to be used on boys.

I love this name so much, that I chose it when I started my gender transition from female to male. I just really connect with it. 11/10 epic.

I like the name Adrian/Adrian but I am in love with the variant Hadrian/Hadrien.
Adrian is a very handsome name for a boy! I can't really decide whether I prefer this spelling or Adrien. I dislike this name on a girl. For a girl, Adriana and Adrienne are lovely ;)
I actually kinda consider this a unisex name. Weirdly, the only Adrian I met was a girl, and she was very nice. I may give my son or possibly daughter this name as a middle name.
I love this name! It's a very strong and masculine BOY NAME. Poor girls named Adrian.

Adrian isn’t just a boy’s name. It sounds feminine and it should be used for girls too. I’m happy to see that this name is labeled unisex because it really does suit boys and girls. It sounds noble for a boy and pretty for a girl. It’s slightly more for a boy in my book, but it’s a girl’s name too! Adrian can be used for either gender, but Adriana and Adrienne are strictly for girls.
I love this name! It’s a beautiful boy's name that should be used for both boys and girls since it sounds a little feminine to me. I also love the feminine forms Adrienne and Adriana for a girl but I don’t see why the masculine form is so bad on a girl. It’s not far too feminine for a boy either. I like this as a unisex name and unisex names can still have feminine counterparts like Jordan and Jordana, Kyle and Kyla, and Ryan and Ryana.

Adrian sounds like a nice name, I knew a quiet but nice Hispanic guy with the name and a really d-bag person with the name too. It sounds like a guy with curly black hair, green eyes and tan skin, and it’s a cool name too. I don’t like it on a girl, don’t know any girl ones though and I’ve met a few Adrianas younger than me so Adriana seems to be more popular, which I’m glad about.
Adrian is okay. I also like Hadrian, maybe even more. Adrian sounds like the name of someone with brown hair, and green eyes.

Adrian is my name, I feel comfortable when one calls me and even the way it sounds out of everyone around. It's not common in Uganda but its nickname Ian is too common. I make sure that the name Adrian is on all my art works and am happy for all that it means. For real, I like my my name.
Adrian was originally Ancient Latin for dark but it didn't mean it as a shade or absence of light. It meant it as attractive physical features. This association comes from the ancient Roman emperor Hadrian who was regarded as a good ruler and humanist. He rebuilt the Pantheon and constructed Hadrian's Wall and The Temple of Venus & Rome. This meaning is why many popes chose this name.
I know that this is an uncommon usage but in Capcom's game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Adrian Andrews is actually the name of a female character rather than a male one.

Definitely more of a soft, quiet masculine name than a hard, in-your-face masculine name. I feel like only a certain type of guy can pull off "Adrian;" a calm, serene guy who prefers reading and arts over sports. I don't see why it couldn't be used on a girl, but as I said before, I find it to be a male name, and prefer the feminine "Adrienne" for a girl.

This is my name and I am female, but my parents spelled it Adriane. My mother told me it was the German spelling but I think she was off on that. I didn't like the name growing up, especially when some people pronounced it Adri-ANNE with a very short sounding American "a" sound. Now I don't mind it but I prefer the European or British/Caribbean sounding pronunciation. It sounds much prettier.

My name is Adrian and I am a female. I don't hate the name, I just wish my parents would have spelled it Adrienne. Before people meet me they always assume I'm a male and it's honestly extremely annoying. If you are considering this name for your daughter, please do her a favor and spell it more femininely. Honestly, as long as it's not spelled Adrian or Adrien she should be fine.

I had a baby in September and my husband and I were going to go with the name Adrian if we had a boy. We had a girl. The same week my daughter was born, the child abuse scandal involving Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings broke, and now I'm so glad we didn't have a boy, because we're Minnesotans and naming a son Adrian the same week the most famous Adrian in the state was exposed as a child abuser would have been awkward. I still really like the name, but I'm trying to figure out if Adrian Peterson has ruined it for me or not.

I don't know why everyone hates this name for a girl. Not all girls are pink loving feminine princesses. One of my teachers is named Adrian, she is really tough no nonsense kind of person. (Kind of scary too.) But, yeah, love the name!
Adrian is a handsome name, and I don't understand why people name their daughters Adrian or Adrienne, the name doesn't sound very feminine to me. Despite its popularity, I have yet to meet an Adrian but I wouldn't mind it if I did :) there is also the actor Adrien Brody, but I prefer the original spelling over his.
One of my friends had a neighbor who used this as a middle name. But I guess his parents wanted him to be more unique than other Adrians. He was Addrian. Looked more like "Add-Ree-Ann".
Adrian is also a rather common name in Norway (among the 100 most used male first names). It was the 7th most popular name for boys born in Norway in 2005. [noted -ed]
Adrian is a very masculine name in my opinion. I would not like to be a girl with the name Adrian. It is a short name but is not easy to say, which gives it a heavier quality than a name like Julian. This is a very popular name in Latin America for boys, it ranks in top 10 names for boys in Spain. I like the nickname Ian. Adrian gives impression of a dark haired young man, who is intelligent, sophisticated, introspective, mysterious, handsome.

I never used to like this name; I grouped it with Aiden (a name I detest) because of the beginning and end. But I now know that it's related to Hadrian, who was an awesome historical figure. Ever since I learned that, I like it more and more.

I LOVE this name on a boy, but I really wish people wouldn't give it to their daughters. It seems like all of the good boys names somehow get converted to girls names.
Cool. I once met a kid named Adrian, and he was just the sweetest little thing. But I have noticed that some people are starting to give this name to their daughters, which makes me worry that it'll become part of the annoying hey-let's-give-our-daughter-a-guy's-name trend.
Adrian is such a strong and handsome name, it also ages well. I absolutely adore it. If I ever marry an Italian or Spanish guy, this name will make an appearance most definitely.
"Adrian" is the name of song by Jewel on her 'pieces of you' album. The song is about a little boy, Adrian, who has an accident, and stays in a coma for years and indefinitely. (this name always makes me sad).
In the movie "Rosemary's Baby", starring Mia Farrow and written and directed by Roman Polanski, Farrow's character, Rosemary, gives birth to the "child of Satan", and he is named Adrian.
Great manly name, it's so handsome and distinguished sounding, it's very fresh yet classic.

Wow, love this name so much. It somehow conveys dark masculinity, yes, but also a lighter innocence and handsomeness. Hmm I don't know why but I really like this name!
At first, I thought this name was kinda effeminate - but the more I say it, the more I like it. Now I'm starting to associate this name with a cute, brown-haired guy with an adorably irresistible smile.

Don't really like this name - it's slightly bland and hard to say but it is uncommon and it reminds me of aquamarine water (Adriatic Sea-get it?) I know someone with this name so that kind of puts me off it as well!
Connotation for the name Adrian means "dark, rich".

This is my favorite male name, and if I ever have a son his name will be Adrian. I think it connotes a sort of dark masculinity that you don't find in more popular male names, and while it is uncommon it's not way out there either.
(Also I think that since Adrienne and Adrian are pronounced exactly the same, it’s fine to call a girl Adrian as well—Adrian is a much simpler and more elegant spelling, in my opinion, so if someone also prefers it over Adrienne, I don’t see a reason why they can’t use it :) )
