Aderyn

This is my new favorite name. It means “bird”, it’s of a Welsh origin, AND it sounds beautiful!

Aderyn... a feathered messenger from the heavens. In nature's symphony of myriad colors, Aderyn sings with the cadence of wings taking flight, symbolizing freedom and desire. Much like the nest crafted by a mother bird, Aderyn cradles within its greenish letters the hopes and dreams of generations past and future. This is a name that honors the interconnectedness of all living beings and the profound significance of every creature that graces the skies.

The meaning is nice, but the name itself reminds me of Adderall, unfortunately.

In my opinion this name is 100% feminine, I can’t imagine this name on a boy.

I would have thought this would have been a boy’s name/unisex name purely based on my, admittedly, limited knowledge of how Welsh names work. I was under the assumption that grammatically names that end in -yn were masculine. I guess with modern day usage it’s a little different. Regardless, the name does sound like a medication so personally I’m not a fan.

I like this name, there is a girl I know called it. Nobody really teases her for it and she quite likes the name but prefers to be known by “Dorito”.

I really like how this name looks... But I'm concerned it sounds too much like Adderall? Is that just me? It might just be me...

Aderyn is a beautiful name, and the meaning bird is so perfect for it. Addie could also be a nickname for it.

Aderyn is a unique and gorgeous name! I wish more people would use it.

This is my middle name and I adore it. I don't live in Wales so nobody has heard of it and thinks its really unique. I pronounce it A-der-in.

Reminds me too much of Aderal, as in the prescription drug.

This is probably one of my favorite names ever. It's pretty, unique, and delicate. I came across this name on the Random Name Generator, found out its meaning and origin and stuff, and fell in love with it.

I like this name, mainly because of its meaning. It's different and sweet, but I would pronounce it 'ad-ER-in' because of where I'm from.

This is my little sister's middle name. We chose it because our father is Welsh. I think it sounds very cute, as a first name or a middle name! We pronounce it "ah-DEH-rin" or "uh-DEH-rin".

I absolutely love this name! Even the meaning is nice: a bird is a beautiful, delicate creature. I cannot see it used for a boy at all as someone else on here said; that would be so cruel. This is a completely feminine name and it should stay that way.

It's an absolutely gorgeous name, don't get me wrong. It would be perfect everywhere except Wales. There's a really nice girl at my Welsh school called Aderyn, and she gets teased something awful about her name - people call her "Big Bird" and "Bird Brain". Petty, I know, but she says it hurts.

I LOVE how this name looks! It has nice flow, too. The nickname Addie is definitely cute! But really, I think this name could be used as a boy's name -sort of like Aiden. But I don't Addie would be the best nickname for a boy. Lol.

My beautiful Green Cheek Conure is named Aderyn. We call her Addie as a nickname. It's a beautiful name and fits her very well.
