Adelissa

This is my name. One of my pet peeves is people try to pronounce it Adeleesa instead of lissa like in Melissa. It is related to Adelaide and Alice. I also hate that people sometimes think my mom just made it up. She was very into linguistics and said it dates as far back as the 14th century and was told it was part of the evolution from Adelaide to Alice. The old version of Alice was Adelis. It means of Noble Kind like all the Alice and Adele names. Nowadays I only rarely see it in the Hispanic population but the person my mother named me after was a Dutch royal.
