Adalia is the best name ever to be uttered out of a human's mouth. Adalia is the rising sky, with the flowers of life sprouting from the soil she walks on; her spirit forever lives in the souls of those enlightened. Adalia reaches for the heavens and the moon; her genius and beauty thread strings of life into our planet, bringing the out in and the in out. Adalia can. Adalia will. Adalia is.
According to other name meaning sites: this quote is specifically from kidadl.com: "The meaning of Adalia is ‘noble one’ or ‘God is my refugee’. It is a name typically given to girls and is of both German and Hebrew origin. The German meaning of the name comes from the name Adelaide. Adelaide is a combination of the Germanic words 'adal' meaning 'noble' and 'heit' meaning 'character' or 'nature.' The name Adelaide, from which Alida was derived, was popularized by the Holy Roman Empress - Adelaide of Burgundy, known as the wife of the Holy Roman Emperor 'Otto the Great’. Another person in history responsible for the popular name is Adelaide of Burgundy, the wife of King William IV after whom, the city of Adelaide in Australia was named. The Hebrew origin of the name suggests that Adalia was one of the ten sons of Haman who were killed by the Jews. Adalia is also the scientific name for a genus of ladybugs."
I named my baby boy Adaliah in Jan. 2020. I love his name, although sometimes people are unsure how to pronounce it. I say it "Ada-lie-ah." It's a name that sounds lovely, and I think can be masculine or feminine. I use "Addi" as a nickname sometimes.
My name is Adalia. I pronounce it Ada-Lee-ah, it sounds feminine like that. However, I do agree in the Bible it can be used as a masculine name when pronounced Ada-Lie-ah.

I like this name pronounced like Uh-Dahl-yuh, same as Amelia uh-meal-yuh.
Hello! My name is Adalia. I am a female and I pronounce it "uh-DAHL-ee-uh". Also, I know it was originally a male's name however, I think it sounds feminine and I have met two other Adalias who are female. One pronounced it the same as I do (uh-DAHL-ee-uh) and the other "ah-dahl-ya" (she also said it with a Spanish accent). :) Hope this helps to clear up any confusion.
It's a good name for a boy if it's pronounced Ada-LIE-ah (the Biblical way) and it's lovely for a girl if it's pronounced Ada-LEE-yah (the German way). :)

Well, personally as a Christian, I would first look at the Bible. Yes, I agree that Adalia is a masculine term. I received a book just yesterday, it's called the "ZONDERVAN NIV NAVE'S TOPICAL BIBLE". This book helps Christians to understand the Bible much better and I referred to this name, he's a son of Haman. Of course, I have no intention to offend any non-believer or pre-believer here at BehindTheName. But, I would still look at what has been considered, a German feminine term for the name "Adalia".
I agree, pronounced ah-DAH-lee-ah, this is a very pretty name for a girl. Pronounced a-da-LIE-ah, it sounds masculine. This name was given to 113 baby girls born in the US in 2012.
I don't want to seem odd or anything, but I think Adalia would be a really nice name on a girl. It's different to the similar sounding Adela or Adele, and I think it sounds really elegant on a girl- on a boy it just doesn't strike me as masculine enough. But hey, if the bible says so.
It's a biblically masculine name, just like how Elijah, Isaiah, Hezekiah, Jebediah and Josiah are masculine. Like: Ad-a-lie'-ya. I like it. It would also be pretty for a girl pronounced Ad-a'-lee-a.
There is a HUGE story that is associated with this name. For all the Madina Lake fans, there is a song called Adalia, but there is a long story about a socialite named Adalia. She goes missing for her home in Madina Lake after receiving an 'Auspice' telling her to protect herself from something. The towns goes awol when she disappears.

Adalia is a genus of ladybirds (ladybugs) in the family Coccinellidae, subfamily Coccinellinae, tribe Coccinellini.
While the Hebrew origins/meaning/gender/pronunciation is true, there's another Adalia that's seperate from the Hebrew name. Adalia, pronounced Uh-DAHL-yuh, is a female German name meaning "noble one".
