Meaning & History

Latinized form of Greek Ἀκουσίλαος (Akousilaos), derived from ἀκούω (akouo) meaning "to hear, to listen to" and λαός (laos) meaning "people". This was borne by a 6th-century BC Greek logographer, who also wrote genealogies according to the Suda.
