Old Norse name, in which the first element Á- may be derived from Old Norse *ana- "all" or agi "awe, terror" or *ag- "point, weapon point". The second element -mundi is a weak side-form of mundr, itself derived from Old West Scandinavian *-munduR meaning "protector" or possibly from Old Icelandic mundr meaning "gift".
