In the 1997 film of "The Fifth Element" an Egyptian boy is by the name of "Aziz". Of course, thanks should be given to Said Talidi, for a nicely played role.
The feminine form of this name is Aziza. It's borne by one of the characters in the book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. In the book, Aziza is translated as "the cherished one".

I do not know of any actual person who bears this name but it is one of the principal characters in Abdulrazak Gurnah's 'Paradise', which is a famous postcolonial rewriting of Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness'.
