From Wikipedia:Amon Adonai Santos de Araújo Tobin, known as Amon Tobin, is a Brazilian electronic musician, composer and producer. He is noted for his unusual methodology in sound design and music production. He has released eight major studio albums under the London-based Ninja Tune record label. One of my favorite musicians since 2010 too, he experiments with a lot of different genres within electronic and I think that’s pretty cool. All have a lot of different sounds. I recommend checking out his albums Chaos Theory and Permutation. He pulls out a lot of jazz and electronic, and has heavy bass lines in the other. Genuinely two of my favorite albums from him.
Django Reinhardt is my only thought. I didn’t know this was a real name either, maybe just as a nickname or a pet name. It doesn’t sound like an actual name.
Miles Davis, the trumpet player? Or the character I vaguely remember from the haunted Hathaways on Nickelodeon. It kinda does have a "cool" sound to it.
Ha. I used this name for one of my own characters in the stories that I write. Not sure where I got the name from (I was in middle school when I came up with her character and I’m in my 20s now), but I think it was just entirely random like most of my names back then were - I can’t think of a source from where I got her personality or looks from either (she’s kinda edgy though, but not a jerk or mean or anything). I think my character is in her mid-20s by now and she has a boyfriend (another character of mine). My mind just immediately goes to Nancy drew (which I actually used to read when I was younger) or even the Simpsons’ voice actor. I think Stranger Things kinda made this name more popular again….
Makes me think of the Lumineers song (who are originally from my hometown and literally filmed a music video at my old high school) and yeah I know there’s the Shakespeare character too. I don’t mind it as a name all that much, but I prefer (and like) Viola a lot better - Viola is actually a pretty name to me.
Okay, all jokes aside, even though I still primarily only think of Sid the sloth, there were two jazz connotations I quickly remembered. Sid Catlett, the bebop drummer, and Sid Phillips, the clarinet player who also made a couple APM tracks featured on SpongeBob (Sugar Beat).
Theda Bara… whom I only found out about through that Lumineers’ album after I googled her. Sounds like it could work as a nickname only but not sure about a full name?
Vince Guaraldi, the jazz pianist who wrote the Charlie Brown tunes with his trio… Vinz from Nico & Vinz too but that’s spelt differently.I’m kinda surprised he hasn’t been mentioned already.
