I agree, this area does not work well on mobile, or look very nice at all. It was initially designed to be used only by me, but now there are a handful of people who have access to it (the namesake editors, of whom only 4 are active). I would have a hard time justifying devoting too much time to redesigning it. Perhaps the side list could be collapsible?

I can still use it on mobile, it is not neccesary for a redesign if it would take too much time, I can deal with it.
I put a shrink/grow button at the bottom of the side list. Maybe that will help?
I looked at it and it makes it better! Still not ideal, but it is still definitely better.
