Leah, when she went to her grandfather's funeral, was overcome with grief. Her boyfriend, Leo Mauer, even though he desired deeply and with all his heart to be present with her, had to skip it to go to some meeting at his college. Leah sat with her parents, cradling her mother and being cradled by her mother. Her father stood beside them, cradling them both.
When the funeral was over, Leah went up to her father and said, "Daddy, I love you!" She threw her arms around her father, unashamed of doing so. The people who were near let them be, realizing that they were heartbroken family of the deceased. Leah's grandmother came up to her son and granddaughter. Leah smiled weakly, and said, "You can always visit me, Mamsy, whenever you want. I don't care when it is. I know I don't miss Grandy as much as you do, Mamsy, but you have to know that I miss him, too."
The day after the funeral, Leo visited. Leah was glad to see him and told him everything. By the end of her tale, Leo, who is a very sensitive young man, was wiping tears out of his eyes. He embraced Leah, and the two of them stayed that way for a couple of minutes before Leah pulled away. "Thanks, Leo," she muttered. "You're always here for me, just like the perfect guy should."
