YEAR 1: After finding out that his beloved Nonna is dying, Nick decides to stay in Italy for six months. Gia stays home due to job obligations. Even though she and Nick face time each other every other night, she still misses him terribly.

Nick is extremely devastate, especially since he was the groomsmen at his wedding. Him and Gia flies out to Rhode Island to attend the funeral.
YEAR 8: After a difficult two years, good new finally come the couple's as they find out they're expecting another child. Months later, Gia gives birth to a second boy, William Ottavio 'Billy' Robustelli

YEAR 25: Just ever graduation from junior college, Paul and Jenny finally tie the knot! They have a small wedding right in their hometown of Akron, but soon after the wedding, the couple makes plans on moving to California, where Paul has been accepted to Stanford University.
YEAR 26: Billy gets accepted to his dream college, MIT and earns a prestigious scholarship that will cover his whole four years there.
YEAR 27: Things aren't working out for Christa and her husband, and now they're currently separated. In the meanwhile, Nick and Gia welcomes Christa to their home until she and her husband, Tim, fix their marital problems

Even though Gia and Nick aren't Thekla's biological parents, they still consider her their own and her baby their grandchild.
