Martin was born in Slovakia and emigrated to Canada with his parents and older brother when he was three. He works as a campaing manager for a local charity that is helping integrate refugees into the society. Mei-Ling or Meggie as she likes to be refered was born in Xi-an, China. She fled to Canada with her aunt's family after her parents died in a massive flooding. She met Martin at a club two years ago and the couple got married after Meggie graduated university with a degree in marine biology.

Living so close to China, the family decides to visit Meggie's birth place Xi-an. They spent nice two weeks there and come back refreshed.

Marting and Meggie welcomed a daughter. Little Zoja Bai was born a few minutes before midnight and looks exactly like her older brother. Luke just adores his little sister and rarely lets her out of his sight, which makes the weekday mornings when he has to leave for preschool a battle.

While Martin and Meggie were not opposed to the idea of having another baby, they certainly were not planning on it so soon. Little Zoja was only thirteen months old when her sister Nina Hui joined the family. Nina has a head full of brown hair and as her older siblings inherited her daddy's brown eyes.

If Nina was a surprise, Daniel was even a bigger one as the family welcomed third baby in not even as many years. It's a good thing that Luke is already in kindergarten full time, because with two toddlers and a baby at home things are getting hectic. Little Daniel Zhihao looks exactly like Luke and Zoja when they were born.
Year 9
The whole family travels to London, UK for wedding of Martin's brother Viktor and much needed family vacation afterwards.
Year 10
With three kids after each other and constant time off it's no surprise that Meggie gets laid off. She decides to become a SAHM. The money is not great, but they are able to make it.
Year 11
Meggie's aunt who cared about Meggie as is she was her own has sadly passed away after a short fight with cancer. Meggie is very upset and more so as she is not able to attend her funeral in Canada as the money is tight with four kids and only Martin working.
Year 12
With the kids growing up and kindergarten/pre-school at least part of the day Meggie decides to write a book. She is pleasantly surprised when she finds a published for it right away. The money she gets from royalties is helping the family to go by.

Martin has lost his father after a heart attack. The whole family travels to Canada for the funeral.
Year 20
The whole family take a vacation in New Zealand, they travel there for a month.
