Re: searching for origin and meaning of name

http://greenvilleonline.com/obits/archives/033100.htm gives a Parasade Gowens (presumably the 1920s entry). Her siblings include a Joseph, Cornell, Quay, Rufus, Cleveland and two sisters, Ruth and Blakie. What I always think of as really American names.
Googling Parisade brings up a line of pedigree dogs fow whom Parisade is their given name (not breed name).
But this quote
'Rare, indeed, is that moral courage, which, like a prudent Parisade, closes its ears against the impression of these sounds, and casts not an eye behind until its destined course be accomplished.'
suggests that you should look in the dictionary or the encyclopedia for 'Parisade' (parasade and parazade are clearly respellings), who is probably the same person as the Parizade mentioned in this story: http://home.houston.rr.com/alzand/parizade.html
Parasade seems to be an Indian (Asian, not American) word or name, perhaps spread to the South through the story mentioned above, and then spread through families.

Thank you so much! I'll continue my research from there. I don't know why this mystery consumes me; maybe I'm the reincarnation of the Parasade mentioned in my family history. Once I get complete information, I'll share it with all the sites I've been to - maybe I can revive the name for future generations.
Thanks again,
Tina
