The name Sophronia is Ancient Greek and it means "of sound mind", hence, "discreet, prudent". It is the feminine of Sophron and it derives from the word "sophron", combined by the words "soos" (safe and sound, alive and well, in good case) and "fren" (in this case meaning: mind, as seat of the mental faculties, perception, thought).
