It's a charcter from Orlando Furioso.

Andronica is minor character in Orlando Furioso(book 15 line 81 I believe).
Also you'll recognize the similar name Andronicus from Shakespeare.
This is from a site of genealogies of noble families around the Mediterranean. You'll see at the top of the list that the eldest daughter was named Andronica.
There is also an 18th century English novel called 'Andronica or the Fugitive Bride'.

And
I was about to say that it looks like a feminization of Andronicus (as in Titus Andronicus)or Andronikos (as in the five Byzantine Emperors). I believe Andronikos is still used in Greece.
And there is a female short form Donika, as well as Andronika.
ETA: I tried it on Facebooks and there were quite a few people named Andronica, Andronika, Andronikos...
BTW, where do you live? Maybe the family had Greek ancestry?

Interesting! I live in Cleveland, Ohio. That's a possibility! There are a lot of Greek people (and many other nationalites) here. :)
Oops forgot the link!
