This will be a bit confusing because in the Matter of Britain it is very usual to have numerous variants of the same name, but I'm going to try to be clear.
In medieval French, the form Élisabel is documented as variant of Élisabeth and it is parallel to the Spanish Elisabel from which Isabel appeared.
The contract form Élibel (from Élisabel) is used in some versions of the Matter of Britain. In other versions, the form is Héliabel, attracted by the Greek word helios by folk etymology.
In other versions, the form used is Hélisabel or Hélizabel (attracted by the Greek helios).
So, Hélizabel/Hélisabel didn't appear as variants of the Spanish Isabel, a variant of Elisabet, but as variants of the French Élisabeth throught the form Élisabel.
