It could be a respelling of the French "aurore" (pron o-RHOHRH) with an extra "-o" appended...though I very much doubt this to be true.

I'd thought of that, too.
I did a basic Google search and a couple of the iffier naming sites mentioned that it could be African, but absolutely no other details were mentioned. The African thing seems to fit with Ororo's character description: http://www.marvel.com/universe/Munroe,_Ororo_(House_of_M)
