There was a
Lilias in a college course I took - Lil-ee-as.
As far as I know
Lileas is merely a variant spelling. (Says so in the big Hanks and Hodge Oxford Book of Names)
It was originally a Scottish pet form of
Elizabeth that evolved into an independent name and became identified with the lily.
Now, I wonder what would please her,
Charlotte,
Julia, or
Louisa?
Ann and
Mary, they're too common;
Joan's too formal for a woman;
Jane's a prettier name beside;
But we had a
Jane that died.
They would say, if 'twas
Rebecca,
That she was a little Quaker.
