The only reason Madeline would seem tired/modern to me (which it does) is that I associate it closely with Madison or "Maddy". Madeleine looks more classic to me, but I don't really like it and would rather see Adeline. I've only ever met a Maddalena, which struck me as old-fashioned by itself, and I liked it. She went by Maddy, though.
