And I work with a beautiful woman named Jeanene (pronounced like Janine), and we all endearingly call her Jeanenie (sort of jehNEEnee, real quick-like), but sometimes Jeanena comes out. Again, I like it.

I'm glad you brought this up because Janina is a name I've looked into as well. My hubby adores Jane but it's a little "plain" for me. Instead, I thought Janina might work and the nick Janie is cute. I like Nina too. Unfortunately, hubby still loves Jane.

I prefer Janine.

I much prefer Janine, as in the David Bowie song. The opening lyrics go:
