Sophie
Today I'm finding Sophie really appealing. Not SophiA which I know gets a lot of love on here. Sophie just seems really silvery-pink-princess-y and it makes me think of fairies for some reason and apparently that's good today. I don't know any Sophies in real life, which helps. What do you think of Sophie? Boring? Too "safe"? How would you spice it up in a combo, if you had to use it?

I literally yawned. No joke. It bores me to no end. So does Sophia. I wouldn't use it. No one is making me.

I don't understand why you needed to respond then.

You asked what we think of the name Sophie. I answered that part of the post. You ask a question on this board and you'll get some honest answers.

I love Sophie. She is definitely a lot more appealing than the princess-y Sophia to me. It is a little boring for my tastes- I know quite a few Sophies ranging in age from late 20s to little girls. I actually know more Sophies than Sophias so it seems slightly more common to me. Sophie Valentine is my go-to combo. She would definitely need an interesting mn.Sophie Adelaide
Sophie Twilight
Sophie Marceline
Sophie Avani
Sophie Zenobia
Sophie Lilac

aw, Sophie Valentine is ever so sweet. So pink and red. Sophie Lilac is also great! Sophie Twilight is really fun too - Sophie Twila or Sophie Twyla would also be nifty. I really like the colour combos these names have. Thanks!

I have always thought Sophie is cute, but it is extremely popular here (with both people and pets), moreso than even Sophia (bilingual English/French speaking area). So yeah, it's pretty boring and safe to me...common to the point of mundane, unfortunately. Have you considered Sylvie, a more unexpected choice with a similar feel? I adore Sylvie! But, if I *had* to use Sophie, I would spice it up like this-Sophie Clementine
Sophie Mireille
Sophie Melisande
Sophie Millicent
Sophie Clothilde
Sophie Lavinia
Sophie Lucinda
Sophie Lucienne
Sophie Marcela
...

Sylvie is quite pretty, but it's not as much fun for me to play with since I know some Sylvies. But I do appreciate how pretty it is.Sophie Lavinia is super cool. thanks!

I think Sophie and Sophia are both really beautiful names. Do you seriously not know any Sophies? I know at least three. If I had to use Sophie, I'd have Clara, Violet, Helena, Aurora or Juliet as a middle name.

I don't, for real! I went to school with a Sophia when I was very young and it was pretty unusual then. But that's it!Sophie Clara is very pretty. thanks!

I love Sophie because it is my most adored, most adorable little cousin's name (she was born in 1998). But honestly, it's never been my favorite name, my cousin-Soph associations aside. It's always sounded like a little poodle's name...one who sits on a chintz covered stool and is owned by some really old cranky lady.

Have to laugh at this- Sophie was the name of my grandmother's spoiled little pekingese...and she totally lounged on a toile ottoman! And Nanny is really old, though she isn't cranky, but she is little crazy ;)

Aww old lady's dogs.

I've been really digging Sophie lately as well. There's something so friendly and approachable about Sophie vs. Sophia. It feels lived in (if that makes sense). I've even gone to the effort of making a few combos for myself:Sophie Marguerite
Sophie Marigold
Sophie Mae -- This is sweet and simple, yeah, but it's really working for me.
Sophie Charlotte
Sophie Juliette
Sophie Claire
Sophie Corinne
Sophie Rosalind
Sophie MadeleineGuess you can tell I prefer mainly French mns with Sophie. ;-)

So cool that Sophie Marigold has come up a couple times! I really like that one. Sophie Mae really is very sweet. Sophie May would be too. Thanks!

I really like Sophie. It's a sweet name, but still ages well.Sophie Marigold is my favorite combo with it.I also especially like Sophie Alexandra, Sophie Amabel, Sophie Mathilde, and Sophie Willemina.

Sophie Marigold, that's perfection! Thanks :)

I've always loved Sophie but I can't stand Sophia! Sophie is adorable and although it's been popular on charts in many countries I only know two IRL. One is Sophie Grace, and she's about 12. The other is Sofie Catherine, and she's 20.

Funny, to me spelling Sophy is much more silvery-pink-princess-fairy than Sophie. Sophie is a bit boring and sort of ...grandmother-ly. But in a good way! I'm liking Sophie Adora right now.

I like Sophy too! for me it's much more eccentric than Sophie. I think of irridescent rainbow colours, like when the light hits a soap bubble. Sophie does seem grandmotherly to that, in comparison :)Sophie Adora is beautiful. thanks!

I actually hate Sofie, but I like Sophie. Sofie is about 4 times more common here, so Sophie seems quite fresh and "new". I don't find it princess-y, even though a lot of princess's seems to be named Sophie in movies etc. I don't really find it boring either. I'm neutral about it I guess. So, I think Sophie is nice enough, but I still prefer Sophia. ;-)

Sophie gives me a very different image, that of a very serious girl who is old beyond her years. I see muted blues and greys. It's become a little too popular for me to see it as interesting or fresh. I still like it, but I'm hearing it too much. To spice it up, I might do Sophie Adelaide or Sophie Helena.

I like Sophie, but it's soo popular here (and I can understand why)It is a lovely name thoughMy favourite Sophie combo is Sophie Isadora

Sophie Isadora is very lovely :) Thanks!

I was thinking about Sophie today, too! It is really quite lovely. I know a fair few, there were a LOT at my school and I still like it. It just seems so gentle and sweet. And I fancy the idea of an old lady Sophie.I think I like Sophie best in plain or "safe" combos because otherwise I fear she gets overshadowed. But, to spice her up:Sophie Maximilienne
Sophie Olympe
Sophie Benjamine
Sophie Arethusa
Sophie Armande
Sophie DulcineaThese mostly play into my fantasy of Sophie as a retired French patissier. She now lives on the coast, painting and baking exquisite biscuits for local children, of course :P

Ohh Sophie Benjamine is as exquisite as the biscuits she bakes! I love that one. thanks!

It's been in the top 100 here since the 70s and top 10 since the 90s - in the most recent chart it was #2. So it's pretty overdone here - yet still its powers of cute are strong enough to make me like it anyway. I know a lot of them, though, so I don't think I'd use it.
I think freshening it up would probs have to involve conjoining it to something really startlingly unusual, maybe hyphenating, but I can't think of anything good atm, just silly
Sophie Albane
Sophie Artemisia
Sophie Silvina
Sophie Loveday
Sophie Sakura
Sophie Calixte
Sophie Cordule
Sophie Phèdre
Sophie-Myrtille
Sophie-Bleuette
Sophie Bérengère

Sophie-Hiéronimette

Aw yeah, Sophie Loveday, tons o fun. And Sophie Silvina is shiny silvery sweetness.Doublenames, how did you know I craved those! Sophie-Bleuette is amazing, and Sophie-Hiéronimette wins every prize. Is Hiéronimette an actual name? I really really hope so.

Sophie sounds so sweet and cheerful. It's popular these days, but I don't find it too boring. One of my teachers from high school is named Sophie. We got along well and are still in touch, so I have a good association with the name. She's friendly and sophisticated. The name suits her well.Sophie combos:
Sophie Melisande
Sophie Melusine
Sophie Melora
Sophie Maude / Maud
Sophie Juniper
Sophie Lisette - Sweet and sassy.
Sophie Giselle - Sweet and sleek.
Sophie Georgia
Sophie Georgette
Sophie Camille
Sophie Minerva - Minerva has grown on me these days.
