My son has been a contented Peter David Alastair for, gosh, nearly 30 years and it's been a great success. Everyone knows it, likes it and can spell it, and where we live anyway there are no bad associations at all.

I kinda like Peter but I love the Greek form Petros. Must be the color... Peter is faded yellow & lime green and Petros is dark blue... (Synesthetes will understand what I'm talking about).

It's probably my least-liked classic name. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the long E sound in names, which is why I also dislike Steven. Peter is a slang term for the male member, which I always think of when I hear this name, although it seems like nobody else does.
