Re: Stephen/Steven
I prefer the spelling with a V because of the unambiguous pronunciation. But I'm used to Stephen too - that was my neighbor's name when I was growing up. I'm biased about liking Steven nn Steve because there's one in my family. Steve is one of those super-butch one-syllable names, you know? I'd only be concerned about the "date" on it. There were tons of Steves named 30-40 years ago, it seems to me. But a simple masculine name like that would not suffer much from dating.MNs - William, James, Isaac, Thomas, Roger, Michael?- chazda

Steven Michael is actually my uncle's name! I really like Steven James. It's unlikeley we'll actually use it since it's 3rd on our list of boys name and we'll likely only have 2 or 3 kids, but I like that it honors someone is both our families!----Betsy-----

Stephen James is my dh's name. Dh goes by Steve. It's a great name! He does get people calling him Stef-fan sometimes, though, with the Stephen spelling.
