Re: Ione?

I have to post on my favorite girls name.
I have heard different definitions for this name from different sources. Some say it's a place name, some say it is violet like the color, others say it is violet like the flower, and one source says it means "violet colored stone."
When I was naming my daughter I didn't think of this name. I avoided reading baby name books and web sites when I was pregnant, because I was concerned I would actually begin to second guess all of my choices, making the decision harder.
AFTER I had my daughter, I started reading baby name books and web sites because after picking a name I thought was unique, but not too weird, I suddenly started hearing it every where, and wanted to reassure myself it wasn't becoming hugely popular. Maybe that's a little obsessive.
Anyway, while reading name web sites, I discovered Ione, and wished I would have thought of it. It became my favorite girls' name.
So I mentioned the name to my husband, and he absolutely hates it. Which is a downer.
There are other reasons I shouldn't use it if I have another girl, and I've mentioned them on this board before. I am afraid to mention them again as some posters who read regularly get tired of posters repeating posts.
But if I can't use it, I would love to see someone else use it.
The only downside - some people pronounce it EYE-OWN, which I hate. I absolutely love EYE-OH-NEE, and to me that is the only way the name should be pronounced.
