Re: A Name I'm Starting to Like

I would love Yuriko, but not Yuri.
See, in the realm of anime, yuri fic would be an explicit story about two women. (Two men would be yaoi.) The reason it's called yuri is because of the meaning "lily"--think of it as a euphemism for girly-bits. Sort of like a Georgia O'Keeffe painting, y'know?
So...I just can't handle this one. Yuriko, sure--I think it's lovely--but Yuri makes me cringe.

...And then he said, "You're independent, aren't you?"
"Yes," said Laura.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Thank you!
I just didn't want to be the first to mention yuri fic, heh. But, yeah, I agree.
I think Yuriko is a pretty alternative, too. So is Sayuri, if you don't mind the Memoirs of a Geisha connection.
