People will always perceive other people as a specific gender, unisex name or not. It's just what humans do: we look at another person and form an idea in our mind, which comes with certain expectations.
I'm all for trans and all LGBTQIA+ rights. I've worked as a psychologist with trans people for years. I raise my children without any sort of gender expectation or gender stereotype. But I'm afraid society just doesn't work like that. Also, if people are open-minded, it can be fixed and a lot of people take it on very quickly if you tell them you don't identify with your biological sex. In a perfect world, none of this would be necessary, but it just is.
