I love them both.
Mary is a family name and I used it as a mn for my daughter;
Margaret is also a family name, and I like it very much, but the default nn for
Margaret where I live is
Margie, with the g as in gallop, not as in gin, and I don't like that at all; don't much like
Maggie either. So it's more a nn issue than a name issue for me.
