Of the two, I prefer Mary. Not necessarily because I love Mary (it's sweet, but tired), so much as because I just... don't like Margaret. At all. It's the one "classic" I cannot warm up to. It's that "grit" sound I can't stand.That said, I'd consider Margaret the more "timeless" of the two. This is because Mary is trending down (no longer in the Top 100), whereas Margaret actually seems to be picking up a little. Currently, Mary is directly above Margaret on the popularity charts, but I foresee next year that Margaret will surpass Mary for the first time since SSA collected data about names, and will therefore have more consistent popularity.***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381
