My first instinct is to pronounce Madeleine as Mad-uh-layn. I would pronounce Madeline as Mad-uh-lynn or Mad-uh-lie-n. I don't think it's dated. I love the nickname Maddie, and it seems inevitable. You could always call her Layna as a nickname.
