Esme Gwen ... those two short E sounds bother me a bit but not too much.
Esme is great, and a family name, and though I'm not fond of
Gwen it's OK as a mn.
I deplore
Martha and much prefer
Tessa to
Tess.
Tessa Maritha or Maretha rhymes but could work.
Molly Bess. Why not
Mary Elizabeth, I wonder. Either way, I find
Molly plump and dowdy but would use
Polly in a heartbeat. I should like
Bess I suppose - Good
Queen Bess, and one of my mother's friends used to call her
Bess instead of any of the nns for
Beatrice - but I don't. Better than Bessy but not good enough.
Polly Betsan would be my preferred tweak du jour.
