I like it. I think it's handsome on an older man and very cute on a young boy. I like it as a nn for Elias. Personally, I don't think it totally works as a way of honouring Elizabeth unless Elizabeth went by "Eli". It seems like too much of a stretch to me because it's a totally different name. Went I think of the name Elizabeth, I don't think of the Eli beginning...I think of the 'z' and the 'b' because they are the stand-out letters. If someone named their son Eli and said it was after an Elizabeth, I'd be like "What?"
