Maybe because it is SO timeless, it has no "feeling" left to it? A less popular name might summon up some kind of ambiance, like quaintness, rustic strength or spunk; encapsulate the time when it was popular somehow. But Julia has always just been there, for centuries. I think it is beautiful too, and also see that reaction to it. A sort of absent-minded respect, but that's it.
