Re: Some present and future Italian babies
Francesca seems to have been the "Jennifer" of the Italian-speaking community. :-))
To me, though, it's somewhat uncommon, and very beautiful. (and I like Jennifer too.)Antonio-good name.
Oliver-nice also
Flippo-to my eyes, seems like it should begin with "Ph".
Benedetta-too much movement of the tongue, somehow!
Elena-very pretty.

Yes, Francesca can certainly be considered the equivalent of Jennifer as a name that was relatively uncommon until the late 1970s and then had a phenomenal boom. Though I don't think nowadays you'd meet a lot of baby Jennifer's in the English-speaking world, would you?

No, haven't seen any baby Jennifers. Currently, the trend in my (French-speaking) community is to use English names. Sometimes spelled in an unlikely way...I think parents just hear them, and reproduce them phonetically. Alexandre is the boy name of choice, has been for a few years now. Girls' names, as always, more varied.
